The Young Orchestral Pops (YOPS Orchestra) was set up in 2002 under the direction of Ms. Kitty Dalligan. The orchestra's repertoire is varied including Film, Popular, Irish and well known Classics and the orchestra has performed to great acclaim both at home and abroad with performances in Ireland, Poland, the Czech Republic, France and Italy.
The Orchestra performs in venues and at events throughout Dublin including the Orthopaedic Hospital Clontarf, the Ranelagh Arts Festival, the Rathmines Arts Festival, the TradFest and the International Sculpture Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham.
* The Junior Orchestra -
The Junior Orchestra received first place in the Wesley Music festival in March 2006. In March 2007, they won the Bourke Trophy and first prize at the Arklow Music Festival. They repeated this success in March 2009 by winning both the Bourke Trophy and first prize at the Arklow Music Festival. They won 1st place in the Arklow Music Festival again in 2012. More recently in April 2013 they performed a joint concert with the Julianstown Youth Orchestra in Collaiste na hInse, Laytown.
* The Senior Orchestra -
Concert tours by the Senior Orchestra include a very successful trip to Prague in April 2006 and a well-received tour of Krakow in October 2007. Since 2009 the orchestra have become regular performers in the State Apartments in Dublin Castle at the annual wine reception in aid of Barnardos “Spirit of Christmas Fundraising Dinner”.
2011 saw the orchestra travel to Paris EuroDisney for a series of performances in April. More recently, this was followed by two sterling performances in Italy in April 2013.
* The Chamber Group -
The YOPs Chamber Group won second place in the Newpark Music Festival 2012 under 16s Junior Chamber Music Cup and are a regular feature of the music scene on Grafton Street during the summer months.

Congratulations to the YOPS Chamber Group which won second place in the Newpark Music Festival 2012 under 16s Junior Chamber Music Cup
The winning players include Sarah (leader), Nicole, Wei Ying, Alison, Laura and Sarah on violin. Tilly, Feargha and Ellen on viola, and Jane, Alannah and Róise on cello.

It was a close contest with six groups competing but the Group gave a very polished performance of Santa Lucia with plenty of contrast and a sophisticated interplay between the instruments which showed how they have grown since their inception last year under the direction of Kitty Dalligan.
Silver medals were presented to each of the players by Michael D'Arcy. Well done girls and keep up the good work.
